Kala came to visit!

Kala McCauley came to visit in June. She is the first friend to visit me from UNI. Carmen, yes, you won from NWC. :)

Kala and I became friends during our sophomore year at UNI while living in Hageman Hall. Belle's Beauties baby!

It was so fun having Kala here, teaching her about Alaska, and introducing her to my friends (thank you for going to book club with me). Kala loved Alaska so much, she is bringing her family here.

Upon her arrival, Leah and I took Kala to Moose's Tooth for pizza and beer...all three Alaska classics.

The three of us ran in the 5 mile Anchorage Women's Run on Saturday morning...

before picking up Gretchen and heading to Homer, AK.

On the way to Homer, Kala asked Gretchen, Leah and myself when we would pass through a town so she could go to the restroom and get a coffee. Little did she know, we had already passed through two or three "towns."

Above is a picture of Moose Pass...the town we ended up stopping in to take care of business.

Eventually we arrived in Homer...

We made sure to stop and smell the roses...err, the dandelions.

Setting up tent on the spit!

Enjoying Homer...

The beach!

Adios Homer.

I took Kala to see the Mat-Su glacier.

So pretty.

Walking on the glacier...

Kala got cold...poor thing.

Scoping out the climb to our camp site...

yeah right.

Bye glacier.

I took Kala for a hike outside of Eagle River, AK, on the old Iditarod trail.

Rio came, too.

Our view on the way home...

Thank you Kala for visiting. You were an awesome guest!
